Primary World Math -13th October, 2015

WEG-LogoFinal-V1All ZIS primary students competed in the online World Education Maths Competition on 13th– 15th Oct 2015; this consisted of completing as many online math problems in the designated time frame. Each student would receive an individual score and then receive a world ranking as an individual and also as a class.

All students showed great enthusiasm towards the math competition and took advantage of the opportunity to compete against other schools across the world. The classes received the following world rankings; grade 3 ranked 3rd in Asia, grade 4 ranked 10th Asia and grade 5 ranked 7th in Asia. Two individual students from primary received; 8th (G4- Honoka) and 16th (G3- Alvin) rankings in all of Asia. The whole school, including all staff was proud of primary’s great achievement in the competition.

Grade 4- Honoka

Math is very fun! This is why I enjoyed the math competition so much. The competition was made up of three different levels easy, medium and hard. Of course I liked the easy level! Some of the medium level and all of the hard level were very difficult, as it often asked questions that I didn’t learn in school.

All my friends and teachers told me that I did very well in the math competition. This made me very happy! I plan to do better next year and I want to get a gold medal in the math competition. I need to study math more if I want to get the gold medal. Do you like math?
