ZIS Curriculum Overview
Th curriculum at Zhongshi International School is based on the National Curriculum of England. It is a standardized curriculum that is followed in over 100 countries and in thousands of schools worldwide. For further information on the English National Curriculum please visit the official website, https://www.gov.uk/national-curriculum/overview
Chinese is also a major element of the curriculum at ZIS enabling students to learn one of the world’s most important languages. Along with the core subjects (Math, Science, English, Chinese and Social Studies), a range of electives including sports, arts and music are offered on a Wednesday afternoon to help students develop and expand their knowledge and skills in any of their chosen field; and to help develop their confidence to pursue new challenges.
Year groups are divided into five distinctive stages as shown:
Key Stage 1 | Key Stage 2 | Key Stage 3 | Key Stage 4 | Key Stage 5 | |
Year Group | Grades 1 & 2 | Grades 3 – 5 | Grades 6 – 8 | Grades 9 – 10 | Grades 11 -12 |
IGCSE Courses | A level Courses |
The primary school which covers the National Curriculum Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, is blended with the daily elective courses providing stimulating activities to build up their confidence and ensures that ZIS is a happy place for them. Students thereby achieve high levels of knowledge, skills and understanding as they find themselves enjoying and actively engaged in school activities.
The middle school years, Key Stage 3, covers the Grades 6 – 8 with the ages of our students from 11 to 14 years old. Key Stage 4 is the IGCSE years. Students in Grades 9 and 10 (14 to 16 years of age) study a variety of subjects that lead towards the globally recognized qualification the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).
