QISN Middle School Football Tournament (2015)
This season WZIS sent three football squads to the QISN tournament; which included two middle school boys and a girls team. WZIS boys squad received first place and the girls received second place. This was a successful tournament and the students enjoyed the opportunity to represent the school and play football at a competitive level. Both coaches were pleased to see excellent examples of sportsmanship both on and off the field.
ISC Middle School Football Tournament (2015)
Do you enjoy football? My favourite sport is football. This semester I was selected to play for the ZIS middle school girl’s football team. I was given the opportunity to play in football competitions in both Qingdao and Tianjin.
Through playing football we can develop key skills such as teamwork and communication. We can also develop stronger friendships if we participate regularly in competitive sports. Playing football has taught me how important teamwork is in order to be successful.
On 6th of November, ZIS sent both a boys and girls middle school teams to Tianjin International School to play football. The school was very impressive and had excellent facilities. Due to the rain the competition had to begin inside in the sports hall. We played three games on the first day and two games the following day. We lost our last game in penalties. At the end of the competition we finished in 6th position, but my experience has allowed me to become a better player.
I really enjoyed the competition and learnt a lot of valuable skills. I want to go to the next soccer competition if I am able, so I can improve more as a player.

ISC was my third football tournament I attended with ZIS. Since the tournament was held in Tianjin, It took around eight hours bus trip to arrive in Tianjin. When we arrived, I met lots of skilled player from all over China. I felt so nervous playing football with people that I had never played before. However, at the end of the tournament we won second place and also received a sportsmanship award.
This tournament challenged me to improve as a player and also to become more confident in my own abilities. I won’t forget this experience, and if I have another chance to attend the competition in the future, I would definitely attend the tournament again.

QISN High School Football Tournament (2016)
On Saturday the 16th of April 2016 the annual QISN high school soccer competition was held in Qingdao. The boy’s matches were hosted by QISS (Qingdao International School of Shandong), while the girls matches were hosted by MCQ (Malvern College Qingdao). These were two excellent venues, which provided the foundation for a weekend of competitive soccer.
WZIS sent both a boys and girls soccer team to compete in the high school soccer competition. The tournament was successful for both teams as the girls placed 2nd and the boys placed 3rd overall. Coaches were impressed with all players that attended as they showed great sportsmanship and played to the best of their abilities for the duration of the tournament.
ISC High School Football Tournament (2016)
On Thursday the 21st of April 2016, WZIS attended the annual ISC soccer competition, which was also held in Qingdao. Some of the top international schools from all over China entered both male and female high school teams. This allowed our students to compete against other elite international schools in China.
This year WZIS sent two high school teams (boys and girls) which both attended the event. All students showed excellent sportsmanship and played each game like it was the final of the competition. All coaches were impressed with all the individuals who represented the school at the tournament. Both WZIS teams got knocked out of the competition in penalties but all students dealt with the defeat really well. They thoroughly enjoyed their experience and are eager to compete in the next competition. This tournament has been a massive growing experience for all the students who attended and will help in future development of athletes for future competitions.
