YEASA

What is YEASA?

YEASA stands for Yantai Educational Association of Sports and Arts. This is association that has been set up between schools that are located in Weihai and Yantai area. This association was created to bring schools together and allow students to express their many talents. All members of the association participate in several events through out the school year.

YEASA Sports Event

On Saturday 4th of June, WZIS hosted a YEASA sports event that over four hundred people attended. The day consisted of badminton, table tennis, basketball and a soccer tournament between all the schools. The day was full of nail biting competition for all students. This competition has facilitated not only growth in our athletes but also those students of which attended from other schools.

WZIS claimed four trophies, three in soccer and one in badminton. The students and parents thoroughly enjoyed the day and are eager to attend the next event. We would like to take the opportunity to thank students, teachers, referees, coaches and parents that made this, such a special event.

YEASA Cultural Event

On Saturday 9th April 2016, WZIS facilitated the first ever YEASA Cultural Event. This included several schools from Yantai and parents which attended the new event. An evening of spectacular dances, arts and musical performances were displayed for everybody to enjoy.

All schools contributed artwork which was displayed for viewing throughout the duration of the event. Some of the artwork on display was truly breath taking and clearly showed that all schools have a range of talented artists.

A big thanks to all who helped make this event possible.

This event will be held again next year, don’t miss the opportunity to attend.

YEASA Primary Sports Event

Saturday 17th October 2015 marked the first ever YEASA primary soccer camp. This was held at the new sporting complex which recently opened beside ZIS. The sporting complex was an excellent venue as it allowed the students to fully enjoy soccer on a high performance surface.

Over fifty primary students attended the event from both YWIES and ZIS. The students were also accompanied by supporting parents. The event was organised and coordinated by Mr. Kuhle, Mr. Wilson and Miss Riegel. The parents very willingly provided lunch for all students and staff who attended the event.

After the opening ceremony the morning session primarily focused on fundamental skills that all children should obtain to play soccer at any level. This allowed students to receive valuable coaching and to work on improving their individual soccer performance. The students then took a lunch break allowing them time to socialise with students from many different cultural backgrounds that study in Yantai.

Following lunch the students returned to the sporting complex to begin the soccer competition, which the students had been eager for all day. ZIS had entered two primary teams and YWIES entered four teams. All teams played each other once and the top four teams entered into the play-offs. Zhongshi performed well and both teams were able to enter the play-offs. All teams at the final stage of the competition played a high standard of soccer and represented their school with great pride. YWIES scored the only goal in the final and therefore finished in 1st place. The two Zhongshi teams came 2nd and 3rd. The day was a success and both students and parents thoroughly enjoyed the event. The students are already beginning to look forward to the next event were they can compete and display their sporting ability and represent their school.

There were six teams in the competition, two teams from ZIS and four teams from Yantai. Everyone in the competition played well and enjoyed the day. We got bronze and silver. In the final it was a very close soccer match, but we finished second.
